Don Whitman - David D. “Don” Whitman, age 58, has been married to the former Sarah Carroll for 40 years. After a brief period with the FBI, Mr. Whitman attended Auburn University and entered the insurance industry in 1968. In 1973, he was promoted to senior management and was the youngest person to date in his company to be awarded this position. Mr. Whitman has completed all the course work for the Certified Financial Consultant designation and received the Chartered Life Underwriter, CLU, designation from The American College in 1983. In 1994, after serving 26 years in the insurance industry, Mr. Whitman took an early retirement and became part owner and CFO of Alabama Medical Services, Inc. , a regional medical equipment supplier headquartered in Montgomery Alabama. In 1997, after negotiating the successful sale of this company, he returned to Lakeland Florida. Upon returning to Florida, Mr. Whitman founded two private companies, consulted to the DME industry, and made private investments. In 2003, he joined Land South Realty as a sales associate. Mr. Whitman has a private pilots license and enjoys flying, fishing, hunting, and most of all, time with his grandchildren.
